The Reverend Steven Eugene Carter serves as the Senior Pastor of the Mount Ararat Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York, and the founder of Steven Carter Ministries. He believes that Mount Ararat is a ministry called to “Love God, Love People, and Impact the Community”. God’s favor has been upon the Mount Ararat Church in such a way that it has grown to over 1500 members, new innovative ministries community outreach programs and activities have been implemented, as well as so much more since Pastor Carter’s arrival in July 2004. Prior to being called to Mount Ararat Baptist Church, Pastor Carter served under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Joe Samuel Ratliff as a Pastor for three years at Brentwood Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, serving a congregation of over 12,000 members.


The only child of adoptive parents Mr. Eugene and Mrs. Mary Carter (who currently reside in Littleton, North Carolina), Pastor Steven Carter is a proud product of the Brooklyn School System and graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School located in the East New York section of Brooklyn. Pastor Carter went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religion from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia and a Master of Divinity Degree in Theology from Duke University School of Divinity in Durham, North Carolina.


During his time at Morehouse College, Pastor Carter was a leader in the nationally recognized Martin Luther King, Jr. International Chapel Assistants group, as well as a recipient of the NAACP Scholarship among several other awards that afforded him many great opportunities. In addition, as a Duke University student, Pastor Carter had the pleasure of serving as Chaplain at University of North Carolina Hospital of Chapel Hill. Under the guidance and mentorship of Reverend Dr. Elliott Cuff, Pastor Carter was licensed to preach on July 9, 1995 and was humbly ordained on April 8, 2001.


 Among the gifts and personal testimony that God has bestowed upon Pastor Carter, his passion to preach and inspire the lives of many has been his most rewarding. Pastor Carter has become a sought after mentor, guest pastor, motivational speaker, lecturer, panelist and more recently esteemed author. He has been blessed to speak in front of audiences all over the country and abroad including the White House during an event on August 28th 2014 hosted by Earl Johnson on behalf of the Administration for Children and Families.


Pastor Carter is the author of critically acclaimed book, “Resurrection from Rejection: Healing from 7 Areas of Rejection In Your Life” released May 2014, which has sold over 5,000 copies throughout the United States, Mexico, Jamaica, and Dominican Republic to date.
